One Midsummer’s Night in Greenland!

We want to share with you another exciting Giants project that’s been taking place…

For the last two weeks, Jennie has been working with students at The National Theatre School of Greenland (part of the country’s National Theatre) on a specially translated Greenlandic version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Shakespeare’s text was translated by Makka Kleist, one of the country’s most respected actresses and founder of the National Theatre School.

Jennie led a full two weeks of workshops with the Greenlandic drama students, alongside Giants’ Associate Artist, Birgitte Nystrøm. The sessions incorporated many aspects of Greenlandic culture including traditional mask work, and Inuit song and Dance as shown in this brilliant video.

Jennie and Birgitte will be returning to Greenland in May to direct a full production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream featuring the students and professional actors from the National Theatre, which will then tour the country.

Don’t forget, aspiring actors in the UK also have a chance to work with Jennie at our forthcoming Audition Workshops in February! Go to our Actor Training page to find out more.
